Out on the Town

Hello beautiful people! Today's look is inspired by my old "date night" experiences!

I used to go out a lot a little while ago, and as a girl, I would always feel like it was obscene to wear the same thing twice.  The guy I was dating really couldn't have cared less, but it is a common and silly mindset that many ladies I know possess.  Anyway, as you can imagine this got very expensive very quickly, I would be buying dresses costing a few hundred dollars almost every week (and again, ONLY WEARING them ONCE!) 

Now to my point, being a single mother, I really cannot afford that type of lifestyle.  My quick fix?  Mix and match separates!  I started buying skirts and tops that I could interchange so I would have new outfits constantly and not feel the need to buy new things for every date!  

This look is perfect for a nice dinner out, a wide range of parties, and night out on the town!

Aquarium Day

I know this is my fashion and beauty (mostly fashion) blog, but I take my son to the aquarium a few times every month and we wanted to share our most recent trip with you guys!!

Fashion for Charity

Hello beautiful people!  I had the immense pleasure of attending a charity fashion show 

on October 27th.  The charitable organization "Hey - Haiti Engaging Youth" was raising awareness for their cause with amazing music, fashion, and an overall positive and inspiring atmosphere. 

The goal of this amazing organization is:

"We are dedicated to improving the quality of life in Haiti by bridging the gap and facilitating the building of relationships between Haitian and American youth.

HEY! is creating programs so the youth can be more engaged, skilled and empowered throughout their lives. Through education, medical& health sustainability, cultural integration we can establish stability one community at a time.

We welcome you to help our mission and become a blessing to those in need of your love and support."

My friend, Frank Mizzy was one of the featured musical talents to perform at this wonderful event.  I have been following his musical journey through the past few years and have been honored to watch him grow and develop as an artist.  Seeing him perform at such a moving event was a great experience.  Frank sends a positive message through his music, I found it fitting that he be part of such a benevolent project.  Please check out his music and let me know what you think! 

This is what I wore!! Yay!

This shoot took place a few days prior to the event.  At the actual event my hair was up in a bun and my wrist was adorned a bit differently.  The look was still the same, I just felt like a simple up-do was more appropriate for the occasion.   I hope you all enjoy this look and let me know what you think!

Red, White, and Polka Dots

Everyone knows I love my blazers and skinny jeans, so here's a twist to keep it interesting!

You can add a print to put this trend into overdrive!  In this look I paired a navy blue blazer with polka dots with a pair of red skinny jeans, then added some black details and fun accessories! 

This has become a classic look, so like all timeless outfits, adding a little something different can spice it up and add a little something extra. It's always great to add prints, on top or on bottom.  Personally I haven't found printed jeans, leggings, or pants of any kind that I feel look good on me, but I've seen many beautiful woman pull a similar look off with a solid blazer and printed bottoms.

I recently spotted this tag on a fellow bloggers page, The Pampered Pout, and thought it was the cutest thing!  So I stole it so I could do it too!!

My child is not only my life, but I'm told he is also my best accessory! 

1. Are you named after anyone?

I was actually named after the lead character in some kid's show my older sisters liked

2. When was the last time you cried?

It's been a little while, I try not too.  Crying is no fun

3. Do you have kids?

Yes. I Have a son named Landon, he is probably the most polite and considerate 4 year old ever, and my heart and soul :)

4. If you were another person, would you be friends with yourself?

Heck yea I would.  I think I'm fun to be around, and don't take myself too seriously.  I always try to be a good supportive friend.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

YES! Sarcasm is a way of life!  It is the best way of describing my sense of humor usually

6. Will you ever bungee jump? 

Most likely no, I value my life too much and would probably have a panic attack in the air

7. What's your favorite cereal?

Quaker Oat Squares and Cheerio's, I know I eat like an old man

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?

I would have to say how they carry themselves.  I can tell almost immediately how confident someone is by their demeanor

9. What is your eye colour?

I have hazel-ish eyes, lately they have been more green though

10. Scary movies or a happy ending?

Definitely movies with a happy ending!  If I watch a scary movie I literally have to sleep with someone and will wake up from nightmares for weeks!

11. Favourite smell?

Fresh baked bread, it's mouth watering!

12. Summer or Winter?

Summer for sure!  I am such a beach bum

13. Computer or TV?

Computer, I don't like watching TV very much and you can google free links to almost any show

14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home? 

I went across the country to California, but that's about it

15. Do you have any special talents?

I can do this weird thing with my shoulder where it looks dislocated, and I can belch like a man

16. Where were you born?

Salem, Massachusetts

17. What are your hobbies?

I enjoy blogging and running and making up weird songs with my son

18. Do you have any pets?

My puppy past away about 2 years ago :(

19. Favorite Movie?

Now I'm gong to really sound like an old person, but my favorite movie ever is "High Society" featuring Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Louie Armstrong

20. Do you have any siblings?

I have two older sisters and a younger brother

And while I do adore my "sky high heels" if I was wearing this to a place of business I would follow the rule 3 inches or under.

I really love a sophisticated yet trendy professional look.  I find them to be so fun to style and wear

Warm colors are important to hold onto this time of year.  Soon we'll start to see an abundance of black, brown, and grey on the street everyday.  

While everyone knows my favorite color is black and about half of my wardrobe is black, I still have made space for color.  This outfit is a perfect example of how you can wear it and use black as an accent, rather as the main color scheme.
